PAST EVENTS
MENDOORAN RACES CALCUTTA AND AFTERPARTY
It was a big weekend in Mendooran! On Friday, 6th September, the Royal Hotel hosted the Races Calcutta, raising over $500 for cancer charities, which was a fantastic effort by our generous community.
The celebrations continued on Saturday, 7th September, with the Mendooran Races Afterparty at the Royal. Guests enjoyed a great night of music and dancing with the Steve Jackson Duo playing live, rounding off the race weekend in true country style.
CAMP OVEN COOKOFF
On August 8th, the Royal Hotel hosted its inaugral Camp Oven Cookoff, bringing together talented cooks from across NSW, with entrants travelling from as far as Narrabri and the Central Coast, alongside our proud Mendooran locals.
Festivities kicked off at midday with the damper competition, where creativity was on full display. The judges sampled everything from the much-loved traditional damper to inventive twists like cheese & bacon, rocky road, and even sweet chilli cheese. By 6pm, the main meals were served, filling the air with the hearty aromas of stews, curries, noodle dishes, chilli, potato bake, risotto, and casseroles , which was a true feast for the crowd. The night was perfectly rounded out with desserts that wowed the tastebuds: golden syrup dumplings, warm cinnamon scrolls, fluffy Dutch pancakes, and a rich self-saucing butterscotch pudding.
